A wrist-first Wear OS companion was designed and built to bring on-watch Tesla control and live status to the Tessie platform. The app exposes quick actions (lock/unlock, climate, charging), watch-face complications and tiles, and integrates with Tessie’s Direct Telemetry so drivers can act in seconds without reaching for a phone.
Our objective was to ship a dependable, battery-conscious Android/Wear OS experience—low-latency commands, reliable background sync, and Watch Key Bluetooth flows—while aligning with Tessie’s security model and public APIs for a seamless handoff to ongoing platform releases.
Architected and delivered a Wear OS companion for Tessie, putting Tesla controls on the wrist with tiles and watch-face complications for high-frequency actions (lock/unlock, climate, charging) and glanceable status via Tessie’s Direct Telemetry. The app was built in line with Tesla’s APIs—leveraging OAuth 2.0 scopes, virtual keys, and Vehicle Commands through the Vehicle Command Proxy—and paired with Tessie’s Phone/Watch Key BLE flows for secure, low-latency entry and walk-away locking.
Designing a consistent wrist UI across varied Wear OS hardware, balancing BLE command reliability with battery constraints, and keeping data fresh without unnecessary wake events—while aligning with Tessie’s evolving telemetry interfaces aligned with Tesla's APIs.
The Wear OS app put core Tesla controls on the wrist and cut time-to-action with tiles, complications, and Watch Key flows. Public platform signals confirm strong adoption and satisfaction around Tessie’s Android ecosystem—100K+ installs and a ~4.5/5 rating on Google Play—with the broader Tessie platform trusted by 500,000+ drivers and fleet managers; the watch app was delivered to extend that engagement with glanceable controls and dependable sync.
